Be involved with St Chad's
Is there anything you could do?

There is a range of jobs that we may need help with in the church hall and we would like to draw up a list of people with time and talents whom we could contact whenever anything needs doing to see if they can help.

If you feel that you would like to offer some time or your skill please would leave a note at the back of St Chad’s for Beryl Mann.

Thank you.

Do you have another skill you can put forward?
Church Sitters
As most of you will know our Church building at St Chad’s is left open during the day every day of the week. This is valued by a great many people both visitors and parishioners alike and there is a steady stream of people coming in, either to look at the building or to have a quiet time of reflection and prayer. There are of course regular services on Tuesday and Thursapse insideday mornings as well as funeral services and weddings particularly on Saturdays, but not exclusively so.
When services are not taking place it is helpful from the point of view of safety and security that someone from the Church is round and about, and for many years there has been a small team of “Church Sitters” who provide a presence, mostly in the afternoons. New sitters are urgently required, the intention being that wherever possible two people will be on duty together. In addition we would particularly like to cover Sunday afternoons which are not covered at present. This role can be a most rewarding one, particularly meeting and greeting visitors from all parts of the country and abroad.

If you can help with this by giving a few hours of your time each week please contact Roy Absom on 885126.

St Chad’s Ramblers
ramblersOnce a month, usually on the second Saturday, a small group of parishioners who enjoy walking in the countryside, go out together to a rural location for a ramble of about 8 miles. We meet at a central location to depart at
9.30a.m, sharing transport in cars to the destination of the ramble which is usually within an hour’s drive away.

We take a picnic lunch and usually finish walking in time to have a cup of tea in a café before returning home late afternoon. We would welcome anyone who enjoys country rambles to join us, either occasionally or regularly.

If you are interested in coming on a walk with the group, please contact me on 884131 for further information.   John Harrison

A note from the tower    If you are looking for a way to give service to St Chad’s while at the same time enjoying a new hobby, why not consider bellringing?   Our Captain, Olive, will give you details.
