Mediaeval Chasuble

This vestment, which was discovered at St Chad’s and passed to St John’s in the 1830’s has been dated to 1470. Work is underway to restore it and to trace its history.

The chasuble was displayed in St Martin’s church hall in July last year with explanations of the symbols, the embroidery, the construction and as much of its history as we have been able to discover so far.
