Mothers’ Union

Welcome back to our Corporate Communion on Tuesday 2nd September. I hope that everyone has enjoyed the summer break.

We remember in our prayers members who are not too well just now, particularly Maire Williams, Connie Longden and Barbara Jubb and hope that they will soon be feeling better.

On Wednesday 24th September we will hold our opening service in Church at 2 30pm followed by tea and cakes in the Church Hall. The hostesses are Doreen Bell and Alice Lester and their teams. Just a reminder there will be a Committee Meeting in the Church Hall on Monday 8th September at 2pm.

“Progress begins with the belief that what is necessary is possible.”

The end of summer is upon us already, not that we have noticed with the weather. I hope if you have been away, you managed to find a little sunshine and that we all come back refreshed.

Our September meeting is at St Hilda's on the 9th at 7.30pm. This will be a wine and nibbles evening to discuss the 2009 programme, so thinking caps on as this will ensure a full and varied program for the year ahead.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the summer break, and are thinking of any members who have been under the weather, that they will soon be on the mend.

I hope that you all enjoyed the summer break in spite of the wet weather and that you all kept well. Our next meeting is on Friday 12th September. Dorothy Walmsley and Irene Webster are down for tea duty, (I will be in touch with both of you). I would be grateful if anyone could find something to supply for a raffle prize.

Special love and thoughts at the moment to our former Chairman, Peggy Swain, who has not been too good.

We enjoyed an amusing talk by Jack Benson on village life in July.

As we had no meeting in August, we hope you managed to find some sun somewhere and that you are feeling refreshed for the next meeting. We shall meet on the 15th September to hear Joyce Killit talk about hat pins. Hostesses: Elaine While, Dorothy Jones, Beryl Thompson and Joyce Smoker.

Best Wishes to all who are unwell.
