St Chad’s Parish Church Poulton-le-Fylde
PCC met on 20 July and took stock of what has happened in the period sine the May meeting.  We were pleased to welcome the Rev. Jane Everitt to her first meeting with us and wish her well in her future ministry.  As usual, finances were gone through by the treasurer and explained.  Our day to day income is still causing concern as it is vital that we draw in enough to cover our outgoings.  Expenditure is always carefully monitored and kept to a minimum.  We are most grateful to those who give donations to cover occasional items of expenditure, such as benches in the churchyard and a new Literature table.  A new bench in memory of Mrs. Margaret Wallis is in place and one is on order to replace the rotting one by the Preaching Cross.

Mr. Malcolm Rayner is looking to prepare a Health and Safety Policy that will cover both the church and the hall and reminded us that we will need to comply with it once it is passed.

Some areas inside the church were looked at by 2 members of the Diocesan Advisory Committee when they visited on 12 June.  They agreed with the architect that loose plaster on the walls will have to be removed and the walls left to dry out before re-plastering and redecorating can be done.  They also advised that the ends of the roof trusses need to be investigated to find the cause of plaster cracks and also the under floor area just east of the north porch for damp damage.

Minutes of the committees that have met recently were received and discussed. Successful events have been held in both Poulton and Carleton.  A list of Charitable Donations recommended by the Resources Committee was agreed, similar to last year, with just slight alterations.

Some time was taken up discussing our position regarding the Hall now that Wyre Borough Council has refused planning permission for a Health Centre on the Church Hall land.  There is little we can do until we know if the developers will appeal and if so, when a decision will be made.

The recent article in the ‘Blackpool Gazette’ about the hall and the Chaddeans and subsequent letters between the Vicar and the Chaddeans’ Chairman were also discussed.

After a summer break PCC will meet again on 21 September 2010.
