St Chad’s Parish Church Poulton-le-Fylde
Mothers’ Union

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Jane, Tim, Joseph and Hannah as Jane starts her ministry and we wish them many happy years with us.

We were pleased to welcome nineteen members from other branches in the Deanery for our Afternoon Tea in June. Thank you Joyce for the Musical Quiz and it enhanced a very pleasant afternoon.

Congratulations to St Anne’s Church, Singleton on their wonderful Flower Festival celebrating their 150th Anniversary. Although St Swithun tried his best to spoil the party, nothing could detract from the magnificent displays in the church – it was truly “All Things Bright and Beautiful.”

We remember anyone who is not too well just now, particularly Betty Brooks, Joyce Marsden, Dorothy McLellan and Peggy Mustow and we hope that they will soon be feeling much better.

On Monday 9th August we remember Mary Sumner who founded the Mothers’ Union and give thanks for the world wide organisation we have today.

We now close for the summer break, so we wish everyone a very pleasant holiday and wherever you travel, be it home or away, take care.

“Treasure each good thing that makes up today – it could be next year’s memory.”

Ladies Fellowship

The beginning of July was the date for our delayed June meeting. As usual we had a lovely evening spent on a canal barge, starting from Barton Grange. We had supper of "fish and chips" and on the return had a quiz.

We were very proud to be joint winners with another party on board. Our winners were Jill Shepherd, Dorothy Smith, Eileen Manby and Joyce Smoker. Thanks to Anne for arranging all this.

At our meeting in July we welcomed Carol Holmes, "walking with a guide dog" and she had brought Ike along to show us. He was very patient and well behaved. Carol was a remarkable woman and her story was inspirational.

We shall not be meeting until September - have a good holiday and those who are not well - we hope you are soon recovered.

Evening Mothers’Union

Our final meeting before the summer break, was a visit to St Anne's Church, Singleton, to see the flower festival. As we entered we were greeted by the wonderful smell of flowers. Following a brief history of Singleton and the church, we wandered around the wondrous flower arrangements and displays.

After which refreshments were served. A big thank you to the ladies whose hospitality made our visit a very enjoyable one.

Our next meeting is on the 14th September, when we will take communion at St Hilda's Church at 7 30pm. This will be followed by wine and nibbles, as well as discussion of the 2011 programme.

Wishing you all a lovely summer, though it doesn't seem like it at the moment! Whether you are staying at home or away, hope everyone returns refreshed.
