St Chad's Parochial Church Council
Notes from the PCC

The main item on the agenda for the meeting of the PCC on Tuesday 15 July 2008 was the Church Hall Redevelopment

Rushcliffe Properties have now submitted the plans for the site to Wyre Borough Council and we await the outcome. PCC approved a letter to be sent to WBC in support of the plans. Some details of the negotiating process were agreed and it was also decided that Mr. Peter Ellacott and Mr. Malcolm Rayner should join the Redevelopment Group.

The architects have redrawn the plan for the outside of the new Church Hall in the light of comments made at previous PCC meetings. It is now in traditional brick with a large cross at the east end which was thought to be an improvement on the first design. The details of the hall will be discussed once planning permission has been obtained.

The treasurer gave the usual financial report which shows that expenditure and income are slightly better than predicted in the budget. Giving is keeping up, but there is no room for complacency as rising prices will have their effect.

*****************************

3 Foundation governors have been re-appointed for further 4 year terms of office, 2 at Poulton CE School and 1 at Carleton St. Hilda’s School.

*****************************

The report from the recent Quinquennial Inspection of St. Chad’s Church has been received and PCC members had been circulated with the recommendations. There are no major items of concern but some minor points to be attended to. Redecoration of the interior of the church will be done when some parts have dried out thoroughly, taking into account when is the best time.

****************************

The 10th Anniversary of the signing of the Joint Agreement at Carleton will be celebrated on 10 September 2008 with both Bishop Nicholas and the RC Bishop present. There have been some joint events and it is hoped to arrange an Agape service once a month. Liaison with St. Hilda’s School is to be strengthened with a working party looking at ways of improving contacts.

****************************

Some reports were received and a meeting of the Resources Committee arranged for the end of August.

The next regular meeting will be on 16 September 2008.
