Poulton in Bloom!

On Thursday 24th June at 10am Esther Warnes and I (Grace Carpenter) represented 3rd Poulton (St. Chad’s) Guides at a presentation of Wyre in Bloom to the Mayor and Mayoress of Wyre. We met the Mayor and Mayoress in the square outside St Chad’s church. We took them inside the church to show them all of the Poulton In Bloom posters designed by 3rd Poulton Guides.

Esther and I explained that we had made the posters at Guides and used different coloured card and paper to make a collage inspired by Rene Mackintosh. The Mayor asked us to explain our Guide badges for camping, performing arts, cooking, kingfishers (our group) and of course the 100 years celebration of guides.
We took some photos of the Mayor and Mayoress and ourselves by the posters we had made in the church. We then took the Mayor and Mayoress to put Esther’s and my posters up on the notice board on Ball Street outside St Chad’s Church and the one in the square.

We gave the Mayoress a beautiful bouquet of flowers and took some more photos. The Mayoress asked us what we were doing at our next guide meeting, and we told her with a big smile that we were decorating biscuits and cakes!

The Mayor and Mayoress were really lovely and asked us lots of questions about 3rd Poulton Guides. But the best thing of all is that they asked for copies of mine and Esther’s posters from the Wyre in Bloom to put in the Mayor’s chambers, how fabulous is that!!!!

My Special Day
I couldn’t believe it when the Guiders told Grace and me that our pictures had been chosen to represent the Guides (I was over the moon). We convinced school to let us come out for one hour. When we got to St. Chad’s we met the Mayor and Mayoress and went into church to show them all the posters. The Mayor said, “They are so good, I would like copies to put on my walls.” I was delighted.

We took our posters for the Mayor to put up on the display boards outside. They look great. Afterwards I gave a bunch of flowers to the Mayoress and we had a few pictures taken. I had a great time and the Mayor and Mayoress were lovely people. So we went back to school to finish my English exam.
