St Martin’s and St Hilda’s Sharing Agreement On Friday 12th September at 7 30pm in St Martin’s and St Hilda’s there will be a United Service to mark ten years since the signing of the Sharing Agreement in September 1998. We will be joined by the Bishop of Blackburn and the Roman Catholic Bishop of Lancaster for the Service, which will involve a celebration of the achievements of the last decade and a recommitment for the years ahead. Following the Service refreshments will be served in the Church Hall. Friends and supporters of this ecumenical project are most welcome to join us! Magazine Distribution We record our grateful thanks to Barbara Jubb who has retired after more than twenty years in charge of distributing the Sentinel. In her quiet way, ably abetted by her husband Frank, Barbara has ensured copies were ready for distributors as well as overseeing annual subscriptions.
From this month all enquiries about Sentinel subscriptions and distribution should go to Mr Fred Vickers, 56 Levens Drive, tel 884301. I am most grateful to Fred for agreeing to take on this role. October Sentinel The deadline for the October Sentinel is Tuesday 16th September. It really helps if copy can be submitted by e-mail to s.keighley@btconnect.com. The Sentinel will be available on Friday 26th September. |

Clergy Conference This September from 8th – 11th, the clergy of the Diocese will be meeting in Durham, at the College of St Hilda and St Bede. The theme of the Conference will be Healing and Reconciliation but in between the formal sessions there are valuable opportunities to meet up with friends and colleagues which form one of the highlights of this four yearly gathering.
You may wish to join in the conference prayer
God of the present moment, Help us to be still and accept your presence;
Jesus of the nailed hands, Help us to heal and accept your healing;
Spirit of the mysterious future, Help us to find you and enact your revelation.
Bless our Diocese as it prepares for the Clergy Conference, that through presence, healing and revelation we may experience renewed life and hope for ourselves, our parishes and our communities. We ask this is the name of Jesus, our healing Lord. Amen.

Back to Church Sunday September 28th 6 30pm We will once again be marking Back to Church Sunday at St Chad’s with a Songs of Praise Service at 6 30pm. Parishioners are encouraged to bring along a friend, especially someone who for whatever reason has lost touch with the Church in recent years. The Songs of Praise will include a variety of music both old and new and some reflective pieces to challenge and encourage. If you prefer you can invite people to join you for any of our usual morning services on September 28th, or indeed on any other Sunday.
