I would like to thank all the kind people of St Chad’s who sponsored me for the Baines Bikeathon in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust following my appearance in the Gazette! The ride took place over the weekend of Friday 9th – Sunday 11th July and we cycled the 170 miles from Bridlington to Blackpool via York and Skipton. We arrived at North Pier at 5pm on the Sunday to a tremendous welcome from family and friends, and though a little ‘saddle-sore’ we had a fantastic time. It was a particular achievement for me as I gave up cycling after learning to ride a bike at the age of 7yrs, refused to undertake cycling proficiency in Year 6 at Primary School and fell off my bike twice during training for this ride which resulted in one 4 hour visit to A&E! It was something I was determined to do for this excellent charity and with your help I have managed to raise £380. Rosie Keighley. |
