Another ‘thank you’ We would like to thank the PCC for the grant of £100 towards our recent organ course. We both thoroughly enjoyed the week and have gained a lot of technique and knowledge from the many classes. One of the highlights of the week was going to Peterborough Cathedral and playing the magnificent organ as well as singing with the Cathedral Choir in their Choral Evensong. We both enjoyed the trip to Cambridge the most, as we got to play some of the organs within the college as well as spend time punting. The punting was a lot of fun, however most of the group in our boat would have probably returned drier if we had jumped into the river!
We found the tutor recitals amazing and really enjoyed listening to the wide variety of pieces. This gave us inspiration to continue with our organ studies. The experience we have gained from the week has encouraged us to learn more techniques which we look forward to using within the services at St Chad’s in the near future.
We both recently have taken exams with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music. Daniel passed his organ grade 6 and I recently passed my piano grade 7 with distinction. Daniel has also attended the nation Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain gaining the principle euphonium seat. We are both members of the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band and attend day courses six times a year, our most recent course involved playing in a joint concert at York Minster with the Black Dyke Band.
Once again we would like to thank you for the generous grant and for all your support. We hope to be playing a little bit more often within the services soon. Thomas and Daniel Moore |
