Residents of Wyre are being asked to have their say on local issues at the next round of area forums which will be held across the borough in May and June.

These public meetings are organised by the Wyre Strategic Partnership every two months to bring local agencies and the public closer together.

The Partnership is an independent body - representing some 70 community, voluntary and statutory agencies -which aims to improve the quality of life for local people.

There is no set agenda for the meetings as local people are invited to raise questions and bring up key community issues to service providers including the police, Wyre Borough Council and Lancashire County Council.

The meetings are always chaired by a member of the public who is independently elected by the people.

Some forums are already well established in the urban towns of Wyre following successful pilot schemes held last year which were hailed a great success.

Now residents living in towns and villages in rural Wyre will hold their first area forums and have their say on local issues.

Two forums will service rural Wyre which will be split into Rural East and Rural West Wyre and organisers are on the lookout for local people - from all walks of life - who are interested in chairing the meetings.

Donna Midgley-Davies is the Partnership Area Forum Co-ordinator. She said: "In the areas where forums have already been set up, these are working very well as they have proved to be very popular with local residents turning out to voice their concerns about neighbourhood issues and we look forward to their continued support.

"We are pleased to bring area forums to residents living in rural areas and believe that that they will be a very useful way of tackling neighbourhood issues that are important to local people. We hope they will be a great success for both local people and agencies delivering services."

All meetings start at 7pm.

But residents will also have the chance to meet their neighbourhood policing team at an early ' Police and Community Together' (PACT) Meeting which will take place on the night at 6.30pm immediately before each Forum.

Cleveleys' residents will be to first to be invited to their Local Area Forum which will be held on 8 May at the Frank Townend Centre on Kensington Road in Cleveleys.

The people of Poulton will get the chance to have their say at their Local Area Forum which will be held on 15 May at St Chads Church Hall on Vicarage Road, Poulton-le-Fylde.

Local people living in Great Eccleston Garstang, Scorton and other parts of Rural East Wyre are asked to attend the first Rural East Local Area Forum which will be held on 22 May at the Castle Lane Community Centre (St. Mary and Michael) on Castle Lane in Garstang.

Then, Thornton residents will hold their Local Area Forum on 24 May 2007 at Thornton Little Theatre, Four Lane Ends, Thornton.

Over Wyre residents living at Hambleton, Knott End, Preesall and Pilling and other areas of Rural West Wyre are invited to attend the first Rural West Local Area Forum on 29 May at the Sunset caravan park on Sower Carr Lane, Hambleton, Poulton le Fylde.

Finally, residents of Fleetwood will attend their Local Area Forum which will be held on 12 June at the North Euston Hotel, The Esplanade, Fleetwood
